Hakushu 12 and the Forest Distillery

Located near the Ojira river, designated as one of the highest quality water sources in Japan, the Suntory Hakushu distillery exudes the beauty and reverence of Japan's Southern Alps. Built as one of the highest elevation distilleries in the world, the delicate whiskeys produced here, clearly demonstrate the natural beauty and dedication to perfection found in Japanese culture as a whole.
Thus, it is no surprise that the name chosen for this particular distillery built in 1973, means "white sandbar" and is accurately named after the white sand bar located at the bottom of the nearby Mt. Kaikomagatake. Because of the higher elevation and thus colder temps, the Hakushu 12 yr is aged in smaller first fill American Oak and Spanish Oloroso barrels. Aged year round, Hakushu's bright and airy flavor profile is indicative of the four full seasons experienced in its mountainous homestead.

Slightly smoky with herbal and floral notes, this delicate Japanese whiskey embodies the ethereal nature of Japanese culture. A perfect intro whiskey for those interested in exploring the world of Japanese whiskey
